Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is flexible ducting used for?

Flexible ducting is used to move air through a ventilation system where an adaptable duct connection is required. It can be used with extractor fans, grilles, terminals and other ventilation components depending on the installation.

  • What is insulated flexible ducting?

Insulated flexible ducting includes an insulation layer around the duct, helping reduce heat loss and condensation risk in certain ventilation routes.

  • Can flexible ducting be used for kitchen extraction?

Flexible ducting can be used in some kitchen extraction installations, but the duct material, diameter and appliance manufacturer's requirements should always be checked.

  • Is flexible ducting as efficient as rigid ducting?

Flexible ducting generally creates more airflow resistance than smooth rigid ducting, particularly if it is compressed, kinked or installed with unnecessary bends.

  • What length of flexible duct run is recommended?

Flexible duct runs should generally be kept as short and straight as practical. Long runs and tight bends increase resistance and can reduce airflow.
