Performance & Installation

  • Rigid ducting offers higher airflow efficiency compared to flexible ducting alternatives.
  • Easy to install using plastic ducting sealant and aluminium duct sealing tape for a secure and airtight fit.
  • Alternative Installation – Self-sealing fittings reduce installation time by up to 70% and allow easy dismantling when needed.

Insulation & Condensation Prevention

To prevent condensation, ducting installed in unheated areas (e.g. lofts) must be insulated with a minimum of 25mm insulation (thermal conductivity of 0.04W/m·K or less).

  • If no loft space is present, intake and exhaust ducts should still be insulated using 25mm rockwool duct wrap with a foil face.
  • Foil bubble wrap insulation is no longer compliant with building control regulations.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is rigid PVC ductwork used for?

Rigid PVC ductwork is used to move air through a ventilation system. It is commonly used with extractor fans, MVHR systems, MEV units and other domestic or light commercial ventilation installations.

  • What is the difference between round and rectangular PVC ducting?

Round PVC ducting is often used where space allows for a direct duct run, while rectangular ducting can be useful where height or space is limited, such as above ceilings, in cupboards or through tight areas.

  • Can rigid PVC ductwork be used with MVHR systems?

Rigid PVC ductwork can be used in some MVHR installations, depending on the system design and duct layout. For best results, duct sizing and routing should match the ventilation design.
