Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a demand controlled MEV unit?

A demand controlled MEV unit is a mechanical extract ventilation system that continuously removes stale or humid air from wet rooms, with ventilation levels adjusting based on demand, such as humidity or system controls.

  • How does an MEV system work?

An MEV system extracts air from rooms such as bathrooms, kitchens and utility rooms. Fresh air is then drawn into the property through background ventilation, helping to support consistent airflow throughout the home.

  • Is MEV the same as MVHR?

No, MEV extracts stale air from the property, while MVHR extracts stale air and also supplies fresh filtered air while recovering heat from the outgoing air.

  • Can MEV help with condensation?

Yes, MEV can help reduce condensation by continuously removing humid air from wet rooms. However, condensation can also be affected by heating, insulation, airflow and overall property condition.
